Connecting Shopify to Connect3PL Modified on Wed, 29 Nov, 2023 at 3:15 AM
Shopify serves as a platform for e-commerce, facilitating the management of products and online sales. Connect3PL is capable of synchronizing Orders, Products, and Inventory with Shopify.
Orders are automatically imported based on the following criteria:
- Only when they possess an Unfulfilled status in Shopify; orders that are on hold are not imported by default.
- When they have a Paid status in Shopify; orders that are unpaid are not imported by default.
Should you wish to modify these default settings, we recommend reviewing our Advanced Shopify Settings Introduction following your initial setup and configuration.

Requirements
To successfully install the required Apps for the Shopify Integration, you must possess Staff Owner Access or the authorization to install Apps in the store. Without these permissions, establishing a connection is not feasible. Further information about staff permissions can be found in Shopify's help documentation.
Account Setup
Sign up To set up your Connect3PL account, you need to register on the Connect3PL website. This step is necessary to follow the guidelines provided in this guide.
First Login Post-registration, your first login will introduce you to an onboarding wizard. This wizard assists with your initial account setup, including connecting your order sources and fulfillment destinations, mapping locations, and routing orders. This Quick Start guide overlaps significantly with the wizard's instructions, allowing you the choice to follow either resource.
Exiting the Onboarding Wizard Initially, Connect3PL will ask you to specify the systems you plan to connect. You have the option to exit the onboarding wizard at any point and resume from the Admin section later.
Account Configuration Before diving into setting up your integrations, visit the Configuration area in your Connect3PL dashboard. Here, you can:
- Add your account information, like business name, address, and logo.
- Select a plan and add a payment method.
- Add, remove, or edit user accounts. Setting up these basic details early on is advisable to avoid any issues later.
Best Practices
- Ensure you are signed up for a Connect3PL plan or trial before adding a new order source. Contact our sales team if you're unsure, to confirm your readiness for setup.
- Before proceeding, disable any ad or pop-up blockers to avoid issues with page loading.
- This guide will direct you on importing your new Shopify orders into Connect3PL for 3PL processing. Ensure you are prepared for this step and that any previous fulfillment services or processes within Shopify are deactivated to prevent double-fulfilling orders.
How to Connect Shopify to Connect3PL
- Start by integrating Shopify with your store. This step is included in your initial registration if you're still in the onboarding phase.
- If you have completed onboarding and are integrating Shopify as an additional step, simply click "Add" next to the Shopify Integration in the search list.
- After you've identified and added the appropriate integration, it will be visible on your main Integration page within your Admin. To access its settings and configuration details, click on the name of the App (Shopify). You'll then navigate to the Connection section, where you should click "Connect."
Once you have added the correct integration, it will show up on the main Integration page within your Admin. Click on the name of the App (Shopify) to access its settings and configuration details. Next, proceed to the Connection section and select "Connect."
At this stage, a second window will open. This window will prompt you to log in to Shopify if you aren't already, or choose an existing store linked to your account. Once you select the account, you'll be asked to approve the necessary permissions for our App to function.
After granting authorization for our App to access your store, the initial connection will be established! Your Shopify store is now connected, and the integration can be configured specifically for your store.
For those with multiple Shopify stores, you can repeat this process to connect additional stores.
Initial Configuration
Your initial configuration may differ between stores. In this guide, we'll explore common setups and explain the settings involved. For configurations where you sell online and wish for Connect3PL to update inventory in Shopify, we advise enabling the following settings:
Pull Orders from Shopify: This enables Connect3PL to import your Shopify orders for routing. If you also want Point of Sale (POS) orders, activate the "Pull POS Orders from Shopify" setting.
Pull Products from Shopify: This imports your product catalog from Shopify.
Push Fulfillments to Shopify: Allows Connect3PL to update fulfillment status and tracking information in Shopify when an order is fulfilled.
Push Inventory to Shopify: Enables Connect3PL to send inventory updates to Shopify. It's important to either consolidate all inventory to one location or set up mapping between your Shopify and 3PL locations, as outlined in our Merge Locations guide.
Note that these settings are specific to each integration and may vary if you have multiple Shopify stores connected.
If any information is missing from Shopify, refer to our troubleshooting guide for assistance.
Location Mapping
Both Shopify and Connect3PL utilize Locations to monitor inventory, and the implementation of these settings can differ among various connectors. After establishing your initial settings, it's strongly recommended to consult our "Getting Started with Locations" guide for a comprehensive understanding of how to effectively manage and utilize location tracking within these platforms.
Custom Mapping
The Shopify Integration with Connect3PL supports Custom Mapping, a feature that allows for tailored configuration and synchronization of data. This mapping capability extends to various aspects such as orders, fulfillments, shipping, and products, providing a flexible and adaptable approach to manage how information is shared and processed between Shopify and Connect3PL. This feature is particularly useful for ensuring that data flow aligns with your specific operational needs and processes.
